About Highland Valley UMC
Our Mission
Our Mission is to know Christ and to share Christ.
Our Beliefs
We believe in God-expressed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The heart of our Christian faith is Christ's ministry of outreaching love. We are all called to minister wherever Christ would have us work to heal and free others.
United Methodists believe in God's grace, which means the unearned and loving action of God in our daily lives. In spite of suffering, violence, and evil in the world, we assert that God's grace exists everywhere.
Despite any circumstance, we remain creatures brought to life by a just and loving God.
The reign of God is both a present and a future reality.
Our Vision
Our Vision is to grow the Kingdom of God with every member in ministry as a teaching church with worship of Christ at the center and with mission and outreach to the world.
Our History
Highland Valley United Methodist Church was founded on a strong faith in God. We consider ourselves a caring church in a complex world. We strive to minister to the individual, families, our church members — as well as our community and world through missions and outreach programs.
On April 5, 1979, the United Methodist congregations of Highland Church and Pride Valley merged to create Highland Valley United Methodist Church at our current location in west Little Rock. Although we take pride in looking back, we take even more pride in looking forward and our plans to meet the needs of the future.
Our Church
- We welcome people of faith into our church, and especially people who are searching for answers to life's tough questions.
- Our members study Scripture, encourage thoughtful debate, and confront the tough issues of the day.
- We reach beyond our own church and community to share God's love with people of many faiths through outreach programs and ministries locally and worldwide.
- We are by no means perfect, but we take seriously Christ's call to invite all to participate in a rich experience of faith while working together to grow as disciples of Christ.
- We still lead with our hearts, keep our minds open, and welcome everyone through our doors.
- We live the promise we made the day we joined the United Methodist Church. the promise of our prayers, our presence, our gifts and our service.
