United Methodist Women

"Whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith."
Galatians 6:10

The purpose of the UMW is to know God, to study, share devotionals, provide fellowship and nurture. The UMW is more than just a club — they are a group of women sharing a joyful faith in God and a sincere, dedicated desire to carry out the mission of the UMW in our church as they support mission and outreach both worldwide and on a local basis. Several members visit shut-ins, nursing homes, and hospitals; we have programs and speakers to increase our spiritual growth and knowledge of the world we live in; and we work together on projects to raise funds which enable us to be much more active in mission and outreach locally and worldwide.

Many of the UMW members have lives packed full of activity and obligations — they juggle jobs, family, friends and other commitments — and may, at times, feel overburdened with the woman's role of caregiver. The United Methodist Women of Highland Valley offer significant fellowship and a supportive community to affirm one's own sense of purpose and commitment to God.

You may become a part of the UMW by joining a Circle that meets once a month. On the first Tuesday of each month, all of the Circle members come together for a UMW Unit meeting. Highland Valley has several Circles and we encourage you to call the Church Office at 224-6047 to get the name and phone number of the person to contact for more detailed information on meeting days and times. Come join us in our efforts to become whole persons in voluntary service to others.

UNITED METHODIST MEN

"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong."
1 Corinthians 16:13

This group enables the men of the church to develop new and deep friendships, as well as strengthen their relationships with family and loved ones. Through a variety of activities and studies, they join other men in growing spiritually, understanding God’s word, and experiencing their faith daily.

This group is open to every man at Highland Valley — We encourage you to get involved in this organization that could have a significant impact on your life. Join us on our journey to build an exemplary ministry that provides the opportunity for personal and spiritual development.

The Men’s Group meets for dinner and a program on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in the Gym.

If you have any questions about the Men's group, please contact Herrn Northcutt in the church office at 224-6047 or .

Third-Agers Senior Group

"We will tell to the coming generations the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done."
Psalm 78:4, 6-7

The Third-Agers Senior Adult Ministry is for those "older" adults (married or single) who love to get together for some fun, food and fellowship. They meet once a month for lunch and either a special presentation by a guest speaker or an outing to a local place of interest for those ages 50+.

This group is a vital part of our church. They are the lifeblood and backbone of the church and never outgrow the need to be involved in some way. Not only do the Third-Agers enjoy their monthly gatherings, but they are also involved in many other programs and activities of the church. Serving on committees and volunteering their time in a variety of church ministries - there are many senior adults giving leadership in every aspect of the church's life and using their wealth of talent and experience to be a blessing to others and to glorify God.

Join us at our next monthly meeting on the 4th Thursday of the month. Watch the newsletter or website for details of upcoming activities. Get connected with this fun-loving group -- new people are always welcome!
