Learning Opportunities

E.D.G.E ( EXTREME. DISCIPLESHIP. FOR GOD. EVERYWHERE)

All Youth, 6th-12th grade, gather each Sunday evening at 4:30pm during the school year for United Methodist Youth Fellowship aka E.D.G.E. E.D.G.E. begins with Youth Praise Practice to energize and pump the youth. Immediately following Praise Practice, fellowship time takes place with a meal in a relaxed setting. Finally, the youth gather together for an intense message/discussion in which the topics that they face today are reviewed in a safe and no-holds-barred session.

BLOCKBUSTER BIBLE STUDY

Blockbuster Bible Study is our mid-week Bible Study for youth that takes movies and music to teach the word of God. Music videos both Christian and Secular are used to teach that God’s message can be in anything. Select scenes from movies are used to enhance scripture that applies to the youth’s lives. Superman Returns, Transformers, To Kill a Mocking Bird are just some examples of the films that we use. Blockbuster Bible Study begins at 6:00pm during the school year and 7:00pm during the summer.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

Sunday school is a Christian education opportunity for an in-depth look at Biblical topics. Classes begin each Sunday morning at 10am for both Jr. High and High School Youth. Both groups meet in the Youth Wing on the 2nd floor of the Wesley Wing.

SCOUTING PROGRAMS

The Scouting program at Highland Valley provides opportunities and guidance for children and youth to develop physically, mentally, socially, morally and spiritually, while building character and fostering good citizenship while having a safe and fun time. The church currently serves as host to several troops of Girl Scouts, Brownies and Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts.
