Learning Opportunities
United Methodist Youth Fellowship
All Youth, 6th-12th grade, gather each Sunday evening at 4:00pm during the school year for United Methodist Youth Fellowship. UMYF begins with a game, activity or skit that leads to small group studies, projects, or applications. Each month we focus on a different theme, such as "Others First," "God as our Authority," and "Moral Boundaries." We also hear from community and church experts on topics such as Internet Safety, Underage Drinking, and Abuse Awareness. A meal follows study time and we conclude UMYF at 5:30pm. Friends are always welcome.
Wednesday Night Higher Ground
Higher Ground is our mid-week Bible Study for youth that takes a deeper look at life issues, such as communication, tolerance of others, sex, "gray" areas of society's values, compassion, and service through open forum discussion and biblical examination. Higher Ground meets on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30pm in the Youth Wing on the second floor of the Wesley Wing. Friends are welcome for this discussion class.
Sunday School Classes
Sunday school is a Christian education opportunity for an in-depth look at Biblical topics. Classes begin each Sunday morning at 9:30am for both Jr. High and High School Youth. Both groups meet in the Youth Wing on the 2nd floor of the Wesley Wing.
Scouting Programs
The Scouting program at Highland Valley provides opportunities and guidance for children and youth to develop physically, mentally, socially, morally and spiritually, while building character and fostering good citizenship while having a safe and fun time. The church currently serves as host to several troops of Girl Scouts, Brownies and Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts.
