"Whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith."
The purpose of the UMW is to know God, to study, share devotionals, provide fellowship and nurture. The UMW is more than just a club — they are a group of women sharing a joyful faith in God and a sincere, dedicated desire to carry out the mission of the UMW in our church as they support mission and outreach both worldwide and on a local basis. Several members visit shut-ins, nursing homes, and hospitals; we have programs and speakers to increase our spiritual growth and knowledge of the world we live in; and we work together on projects to raise funds which enable us to be much more active in mission and outreach locally and worldwide.
Many of the UMW members have lives packed full of activity and obligations — they juggle jobs, family, friends and other commitments — and may, at times, feel overburdened with the woman's role of caregiver. The United Methodist Women of Highland Valley offer significant fellowship and a supportive community to affirm one's own sense of purpose and commitment to God.
You may become a part of the UMW by joining a Circle that meets once a month. On the first Sunday of each month at 4pm, all of the Circle members come together for a UMW Unit meeting. Highland Valley has several Circles and we encourage you to call the Church Office at 224-6047 to get the name and phone number of the person to contact for more detailed information on meeting days and times. Come join us in our efforts to become whole persons in voluntary service to others.
